Dashboardx Designer Overview
Welcome to Dashboardx Designer – the intuitive, no-code platform that transforms spreadsheet data into professional dashboards. This overview will introduce you to the core concepts and capabilities of our application.
What is Dashboardx Designer?
Dashboardx Designer is a desktop application that bridges the gap between spreadsheet data and visual analytics. It is built around the spreadsheet skills you already have: anyone comfortable with a basic spreadsheet can put together a sophisticated, interactive dashboard without writing a single line of code.
What's new in v2.1.0
A table in your spreadsheet is now a first-class source for a dataset — and a dataset can follow the rows your filters leave visible:
- Datasets from tables — select a table, or a filtered range, and create a dataset where it sits; one table maps to one dataset, with the first row as field names. See Datasets.
- Datasets that follow filters — adjust a filter, hide rows or sort, and the dataset reads the new visible rows; a view with no visible rows is reported before an empty dataset is created.
- Editable field types — right-click a dataset field to change its type, without a formula workaround.
- Cycle-aware binding — the blanket ban on slice-derived datasets is replaced by cycle detection; a binding is refused only when it would form a real loop. See Data Binding.
- Agents on tables — creating tables, changing them and setting filters are on the tool surface the agents use.
The agent team, Plan Mode and workspaces introduced in v2.0.0 are still here. The full release history is in What's new.
Key Benefits
- Spreadsheet-first: no data-analysis background required — if you can use Excel or WPS, you already have what it takes
- No-Code Design: Build complex visualizations through an intuitive drag-and-drop interface
- Privacy Assured: Data processing happens on your device by default — the one exception is what goes to the model provider you configured when you ask an agent to work
- Professional Results: Create presentation-ready dashboards from 20 chart types, input controls, KPI and display widgets, decorative frames, and advanced styling options
Core Architecture
Dashboardx Designer is built around three perspectives that carry you through the work, plus a way to show the result:
1. Data Perspective
The spreadsheet-like interface where you import, clean, and prepare your data. Maintain data integrity while exploring relationships between datasets.
2. Design Perspective
The canvas where you arrange widgets and create your dashboard layout. Drag-and-drop components with precision guides for professional arrangements.
3. Agent Perspective
The workspace where you describe the dashboard you want instead of assembling it by hand. Agents read your data, choose the charts, lay out the canvas, and review their own work — and you approve anything that changes your files. The Agent Dock keeps the same conversation beside your spreadsheet and canvas, and Plan Mode agrees the design before anything is built.
Presenting the result
Click Present and the dashboard opens in your browser, served from your own machine, and follows your edits live. Viewers can click charts and drive filters without touching your design, and nobody needs the Designer installed. See Presenting a Dashboard.

Privacy & Security
Dashboardx Designer is built with privacy-by-design principles:
- Local Processing: spreadsheet calculation, datasets, chart rendering and presentation all run on your device
- One exception you control: when you ask an agent to do something, the request and the data it needs go from your machine to the model provider you configured, under your own account — that is the only outbound traffic the app generates
- No Cloud Storage: we have no servers that receive your content
- No Data Collection: We don't collect, use, store, or access your personal data
- Transparent Operations: Clear documentation of all data handling practices
