Settings - Permissions
Agents ask before they do anything that changes your work — writing a file, deleting a worksheet, applying a bulk change. Saved Permissions is where you review the approvals you have already given, and take them back.
Open this dialog
Open Settings from the app menu — Dashboardx Designer → Settings on macOS, Settings on Windows, or press ⌘, (Ctrl+, on Windows) — and select Permissions under Advanced.
The page lists every approval rule you have saved, one row per rule, showing:
- The tool the rule applies to.
- An Always allowed or Denied (session) badge.
- The resource the rule was created for, when applicable.
If the list is empty, nothing has been saved yet: every request will ask you first.
How approvals work
When an agent wants to run a tool, the request appears in the Tool Call Confirmation panel above the message box in the conversation. It tells you which agent is asking, which tool it wants, and what exactly it will do (for example, which file it will write).
You have four choices:
| Button | Effect |
|---|---|
| Allow Once | Approve this one request. The agent will ask again next time. |
| Always Allow | Approve now, and remember the choice for this workspace. A rule appears on this page. |
| Deny | Reject this one request. The agent will ask again next time. |
| Deny for session | Reject and stop asking about this tool for the rest of this conversation. The rule is removed when the conversation is deleted. |
While a request is waiting, the agent pauses — its response timer is stopped, so you are not charged thinking time while you read the request. The message box shows that it is waiting for you.
Some things always ask
Approvals never weaken all the way to nothing. Operations that delete data always require confirmation, even with auto-accept on, and the request is labelled Destructive tool — always requires approval.
If you take too long and the request is no longer valid, the app tells you This approval request is no longer active and the agent continues from where it can.
Auto-accept
When several requests are queued, a switch appears next to the confirmation panel:
- Auto on: pending requests are approved automatically so long tasks keep moving.
- Delete-class operations are still held for your confirmation, and a banner reminds you while auto-accept is on.
Auto-accept applies to the current conversation only.
Notifications when you are away
If a request arrives while Dashboardx Designer is in the background, you get a macOS notification and a Dock badge showing how many approvals are waiting, so you can tell at a glance whether a long task is finished or stuck on you. Requests that arrive together are bundled into one notification.
Removing a saved permission
Click the delete button on a row and confirm. The next time the agent needs that tool, it asks you again. Denied (session) entries clear themselves when the conversation they belong to is deleted.
