Settings - Appearance
The Appearance tab controls how Dashboardx Designer looks and feels: the color theme, the perspective the app opens in, and the interface language.
Open this dialog
Open Settings from the app menu — Dashboardx Designer → Settings on macOS, Settings on Windows, or press ⌘, (Ctrl+, on Windows) — and select Appearance under General.
Theme
Pick one of three options:
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Light | Always use the light interface. |
| Dark | Always use the dark interface. |
| System | Follow your operating system's dark/light setting. This is the default on a fresh install. |
With System selected, the interface switches automatically when you change Appearance in System Settings — no restart required.
Theme vs. canvas theme
The theme here applies to the application chrome (windows, panels, dialogs, menus).
Your dashboard has its own visual style, chosen from the theme list in the toolbar. That style belongs to the document and travels with it; the app theme does not change it. See Visual Design.
Starting perspective
The setting is called Perspective, and its three options read exactly like the toolbar:
| Option | What you get |
|---|---|
| Agent Perspective | The full-screen agent workspace — conversation-first. |
| Data Perspective | Spreadsheets, datasets, slice bindings. |
| Design Perspective | Canvas, widgets, layout. |
You can always switch perspectives from the View Perspective control in the toolbar.
Language
Pick a language from the dropdown, or choose Follow OS to match the language your system is using. This is the default, and the change applies immediately — no restart.
Six languages are offered: English, 中文, Français, 한국어, Русский, Español. If your system language is not one of them, Follow OS falls back to English.
